The Nike Nike Air Max line has had a long and impressive history of constantly innovating and providing stylish ultra-functional sneakers in the process. The latest offering in the line is the Nike Air Max + 2009 Running Shoe, a sleek new model with some very nice touches like Flywire technology and a full 360 Nike Air Max sole unit, so you know they will be both lightweight and well-cushioned. The shoe also features a partially transparent upper that reveals the Flywire and a mesh underlayer. Two men’s and two women’s models will make up the initial drop. The fellas will have grey/black/blue and silver/volt/black colorways to sink their teeth into, while the ladies versions will come in grey/orange and grey/silver/liquid lime. All four colorways of the men’s Nike Air Max + 2009 and women’s Nike Air Max + 2009 will be hitting NikeStore on April 4th but you can pre-order them now.

The Nike Air Classic BW appears in a combination of smooth and pebbled white leather along with black accents and just a touch of purple. The black outsole will help keep ‘em clean, but a nearly all-white upper is a great look for spring if you missed out on the Persian violet retro. These kicks feature a canvas upper, completely coveblue by thinly spaced University Blue stripes over a white base. The pattern changes slightly on the toe box and around the ankle with the lines becoming much finer, creating a more solid appearance on those sections in the process. White accents are incorporated on the Swoosh, midsole, lining and laces, with a classic gum outsole supplying a final style touch. Look for these to hit Nike Quickstrike accounts, including the Nike Sportswear stores, this weekend.

The Nike Air Max 97′ was designed by Christian Tresser and represented yet another groundbreaking moment in Air technology with an Air sole unit running the length of the entire shoe. Though it still incorporated a layer of polyurethane foam, it offeblue runners sport-specific crash padding to provide more durable heel-to-toe cushioning. This was the first Air Sole developed specifically for running, harkening back to Nike’s inception as a company on the frontier of high performance footwear for runners.

After retooling the Nike Air Max 360 for the past two years, Nike has taken the best of their running technologies to create the Nike Air Max 2009. The Nike Air Max 2009 features a full length 360 degree visible Max Air unit in the sole. Originally released in 1989 as the Air Max II, the Air Max Light was intended as a successor to the Air Max. It weighed less than than the original, achieved by replacing the forefoot polyurethane midsole with one made from phylon. Marketed as a performance running shoe, the Light would eventually be overshadowed by the Air Max III, now known as the Air Max 90.

Re-released in 2007, the Light continues to release in both retro and new colourways. JD Sports had an advertising campaign using the word Swoosh, presumably in keeping with the original print advertisements.

In September 2006 Nike introduced a special 'one time only pack' which fused the 360 model with three classics. The three shoes used were the Air Max 90, Air Max 95, and Air Max 97. For this special release, the design of the 360 sole was used in place of the normal sole of the three classics. The shoes were released in the three original colors: red for the Air Max 90, green/yellow for the Air Max 95, and grey/silver for the Air Max 97. Like other Air Max releases, deluxe editions were also produced. These deluxe editions lasted for about 500 miles (800 km) before their shock absorbing properties deteriorated. The use of '360' of air cushioning is meant to ensure the shoes longevity.
